Even the biggest, heaviest blooms like peonies can hold their heads high with the help of these flower supports. Set them out in spring and stems will grow right up through the supports, keeping plants standing straight and tall and preventing unsightly flopping. The concentric rings forming the top of the support hold stems in more natural form than grid-shaped supports. Set of three supports; each support consists of one top and three legs. The 12" support is ideal for short to medium-height flowers, including compact varieties of coreopsis, zinnia, campanula and veronica. The 18" support is perfect for shrubby flowers like taller zinnias, salvia, young peonies, Shasta daisies and poppies. The 24" support holds larger plants, like mature peonies, campanula and rudbeckia.

I have several plants that tend to flop once they get tall, or get rained on, or if my cats chose to play in the posies. Last year one of my cats trampled my beautiful Calla Lily. This year I installed one of the plant supports over the Calla as it was just coming up out of the ground. The plant is growing up nicely through the support and has acted as a deterrent to the cats. I'm very pleased with it!

I think that these plant supports will be nice to try and keep sprawling plants more contained. This is my first attempt with these in 2013. But when you order them, be aware that the 12 inch round supports have 18 inch legs and the 18 inch round supports have 24 inch legs. This can be a problem if you have ledge underneath your garden like I do. I wish that the description of the product had told me that as I would only have ordered the 12 inch ones.

It does just what it's supposed to do: keep our perennials upright and the inner rings prevent the leaves from simply falling towards one side which is what happened with previous single-ring supports. Being able to move the supporting legs around the perimeter really helps being able to find a place to penetrate deep enough in our rocky New England soil.

I use these supports for any plant that tends to flop. Once the plant has grown and filled in, the support is hidden. They are easy to use, very durable, high quality, and you can use them year after year.
Take care, though, not to force the legs into extremely hard soil because they will bend and are difficult to straighten.
