Comments about Gardener's Revolution® Planter Success Kit:
Bought 2. I'm a senior citizen. Paid someone to assemble for me. There were no instructions with either of the kits. I didn't know how. He didn't know how. I sent for instructions. Nobody contacted me. We did our best and because we were obviously wrong some of the bags split and soil/plants spilled everywhere. Now I have 2 I can't put together because the parts are damaged. Heavy sigh!!!!

Comments about Gardener's Revolution® Planter Success Kit:
Loved these planters! Grew fabulous tomatoes! The water system does not work well however as they attract bugs....however the system works very very well for growing tomatoes.....look forward to using these planters next year...
Also assembly is tricky and takes time but well worth the effort!

Comments about Gardener's Revolution® Planter Success Kit:
While the planter itself works, it's a pain in the butt to fill. The plastic clips provided are a joke and will not hold the planter together once it's heavy with dirt. I had to use zip ties to keep it together. So now it's fine. But once you have it filled, be prepared to need a strong man to lift it up to hang it.

Comments about Gardener's Revolution® Planter Success Kit:
Great yield from the 4 I bought last year with the iron stand and easy to use but the reservoir completely disintegrated after 1 year FOR ALL 4. I ended up cutting off the bottom of milk jugs to replace the reservoir for this year. Unless they design it with a hard plastic, durable reservoir or the option to buy replacement bags, this is a waste of money (unless you like collecting the cages) and you will be forking out $20 a year. If you are going to do that, you might as well spend $5 on a Topsy Turvy which are intended to only to last one year.

Comments about Gardener's Revolution® Planter Success Kit:
This is the best upside-down planter I have used, and I would recommend it, with some modifications. The watering system doesn't work all that well, so I have rigged up a drip irrigation system that works perfectly. Larger tomato varieties simply don't produce well, so do follow the suggestions for either cherry or determinate variieties. I have had some disease problems from water running down over the plants so it is important to use only a commercial potting mix (don't add garden compost, as I did last year) and don't overwater. I do not find the cloth bags to be particularly flimsy (other than a mouse eating one over the winter). I have even run the bags through my washing machine to ensure no disease organisms persist from last year - with no problems at all. My suspision is that people who have rotting bags are keeping them too wet - I have a few that are out for the 4th year. Regardless, Gardeners should make these bags available for bulk sale (I now have 16 of these things).

Cons
- Heavy

- Great to hang from a deck
Comments about Gardener's Revolution® Planter Success Kit:
Both the tomatoe/cucmber plant's stalks become very thick/woody with very little or no new growth. The tomatoe plants tend to grow up.The wicks used to water the plants dont work very well.
Pros
- Relatively inexpensive
Cons
- Doesnt work as described
- Dries out when not in use
- Flimsy
Best Uses
- Nasturtium
Comments about Gardener's Revolution® Planter Success Kit:
It is intended to be a suspended garden option to save space. I've used 'Topsy Turvy,' this model and one other. I've put tomatos and cucumbers in them. They never work as pictured. The picture shows a flowing series of vines coming from the bottom. In every case in my experience the plants curved from underneath and tried to grow up. This attempt causes the vines to be few, woody and not very long. In addition, as you water from the top, any excess water will flow onto the main plant stem which seems to encourage disease growth.
Pros
- Easy To Use
Cons
- Dries out quickly
- NOT durable
Best Uses
- Windsock
Comments about Gardener's Revolution® Planter Success Kit:
I have had these less than a year. I set them up to grow tomatoes last spring but could not get the water reservoirs to keep the plants wet. The wicks simply did not work. I had to resort to dumping water in the top around the edges of the reservoir every few days, but eventually the planters dried up anyway. I was willing to give the planters another try this spring, but I found when setting them back up that the reservoirs had completely broken down into brittle flakes.

Tomatoes are consistently the most popular vegetable in American gardens. But for most gardeners, just any old tomato won't do.
