New & Exclusive | Traditional Cape Cod Weeder is the Best Tool for Tackling Tough Weeds

  • Knife-like tool slices weeds and loosens crusted soil
  • Forged steel blade is securely fastened into a comfortable hardwood handle
  • Each tool comes with our exclusive lifetime guarantee
  • Choice of right- or left-handed version

Used by generations of New England gardeners, Cape Cod Weeders slice weeds just below the soil line and are great for working in tight spaces. Our Gardener’s Lifetime Cape Cod Weeder is hand-forged in Holland from the finest high-carbon Swedish boron steel with a pointed, self-sharpening tip. Unlike flimsy tools that are stamped from thin stainless steel, this weeder is ready for a lifetime of use by serious gardeners. To give it extra strength and durability, a 4" metal tang extends into the handle, which is securely fastened with a welded socket. The handle is made of sustainably grown European ash hardwood. Gardener’s Lifetime Tools are handmade for us by a fourth-generation, family-owned business that has been crafting fine gardening tools for more than a century.

Pros

  • Easily Gets In Cracks
  • Good For Cutting Roots
  • Good for patios

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Weeding Patio Stones
    • Weeding Paving Stones

I have a back yard patio where weeds grow between the pavers. The sharp edge does a great job of cutting down to the roots. Even gets into the smaller areas.

Excellent for weeding around tight spaces and uprooting tiny weeds. Works like a hand held hoe and also hooks deeper roots. I am quite happy with this product.

      The best hand tool ever.

      Pros

      • Digs Out Weed Roots
      • Doesn't Harm Plant Roots

      Cons

      • None that I can find

      Best Uses

      • Weeding

I have been gardening over 30 years and this is the one tool I reach for most whenever I go out to garden. It is great for digging out weed roots, but by using the sideways motion you can weed right up to the plant without harming the plant roots. I also use it to loosen soil around plants and to dig holes to plant small plants that don't require a shovel. I always have two or three on hand in case I happen to lose it as I have in the past. The one recommendation I would have to improve it is to paint the handle orange!

      My favorite weeder

      Pros

      • Lightweight
      • Perfect Shaped Blade

      Cons

        Best Uses

I have many weeders and this is my favorite. The curved blade is perfect for hooking and slicing the roots below the soil. I also use it for loosening soil in planting holes. It's so lightweight that I can use it for an extended amount of time without fatigue.

I used this to weed close to my iris bulbs. The blade is not sharp & is very small. It dug a hole, but did not do well at removing the weeds. I'm returning it.

                • Weeding

A simple yet ingenious little tool! It's sort of a mini hand hoe. Just rake through beds and it cuts weeds and grasses off below ground at the roots. Easy to maneuver around plants and in tight spots. It was a bit of an impulse purchase for me, but I'm glad I indulged myself. It's been indispensable for me this spring!

                • Tilling
                • Weeding

Works wonderfully as a weeder if you draw the blade towards you while keeping it horizontal and just slightly under the soil's surface. The blade easily cuts weeds off then it can be turned to dig deeper into the soil to cultivate further. It's such a simple and handy tool and I was very happy to see GS carrying them. They are pricey but are such good weeders that I like to give them as gifts to gardening friends.

I lost this early in weeding season and Santa had to replace it so I wouldn't be without next year! I'll be painting the handle orange so it doesn't get lost in bark chips or tossed out w/ the weeds.
