Why do skilled gardeners like to grow their vegetables from seed? The incredible selection, for one thing — it’s a treat to discover and taste new varieties of your favorites. Seeds are inexpensive, and home-tended seedlings are often healthier than store-bought ones. What gardeners enjoy most is the satisfaction of tending a garden from the first tiny seedling to delicious harvest.
Our Garden Starter System was designed for simplicity, so that even beginning gardeners will be successful. It grows twelve large seedlings at a time — enough to start a plentiful kitchen garden. Biodegradable Cowpots hold plants until they’re mature enough to go into the garden, while a self-watering tray provides just the right moisture to seedlings, avoiding over- and under-watering. Seedlings will thrive in the glow of the energy-efficient, full spectrum T-5 Grow Light, so bright that plants can’t tell it from sunlight.
We also include 12 quarts of our exclusive Organic Seedstarting Mix, fortified with compost to grow stocky, well-rooted seedlings. In short, this kit includes everything you need to succeed. If you’ve ever considered starting plants from seed — or if you’ve tried before without luck — give our easy system a try

Comments about Garden Starter Kit:
The light hood and stand went up easily. The directions were easy to follow. The only addition would be to point out that when snapping in the light fixtures, you need to make sure there is a male and female end on each side. It shows it in the picture but not in the written directions. I had to unsnap and re-snap one of mine in, wasn't a big deal but better if I didn't have to.
The stand seems sturdy and fits perfectly on the counter.
The cow pots are bigger than I had thought which is great because that means we'll be able to start even more seeds.
We haven't started the seeds yet but I'm hopeful that the grow lights do what they are suppose to.
Even though we love it, it does seem a bit pricey.

Comments about Garden Starter Kit:
I used this kit to start heirloom tomato seeds. It has been very successful. Only downside is the mold that grew on the wicking mat.

Starting your favorite seedlings from scratch is foolproof with this kit . The self-watering container provides the right amount of moisture. The grow lights provide the right amount of sun. Put your lights on a timer and relax.Your plants will get off to a healthy happy start.

Comments about Garden Starter Kit:
I use this product to start seeds that are difficult to direct sow in the garden. It was easy to assemble and fits nicely on one end of my kitchen counter. I use a timer to control the light. The advert said that 24 3" pots were included, but in fact mine came with 4 six-packs. The cowpots are not necessarily level on the bottom so they don't wick water uniformly. With the single pots you can place a sponge or other adsorbent material underneath them to solve the problem, but with the six-packs, where one cell may not wick efficiently, this is not a satisfactory fix. Too early to tell what the germination rate will be, but for someone who is away from home a lot and would otherwise find it difficult to keep seedlings moist, this is a decent system, especially if you buy individual pots.

Comments about Garden Starter Kit:
I have never had much luck starting seeds indoors but having planted seeds just 3 weeks ago I have amazingly sturdy seedlings thriving in my living room. The cow pots that come with the set are a great addition, the seedlings have roots that have grown into the pots and even come through in some cases. Now if we can just get past the last freeze (end of Feb where I live) I can get my garden started in early march - I can't wait for an amazing harvest this year! I LOVE the seed starter - it is by far my best gardening purchase ever.

Comments about Garden Starter Kit:
Why sell a "starter kit" with everything you need, then tell you that you should purchase a timer to go along with it. I bought this since I travel. I thought I could set it up to use for several days at a time per your site. Now I have to remember to run into the guest room to switch the light on an off PLUS teach my family to do so while I am gone so I can follow the recommended usage. lame
Comments about Garden Starter Kit:
[$] for a couple of fluorescent bulbs in an adjustable stand is a lot to ask. I put something similar together with 4 2-ft bulbs and some light-weight chains for about $30 and have been using it for about 5 years now. Works great.

I use this to start veges. They seem to come up quickly and and strong plants. Easy to use but a general instruction booklet would be helpful.
