Needs some re-engineering to stay up in wind & rain. The bolt on the "Crown" needs better welding to stay on.

Comments about Garden Maypole:
I needed a new pole to grow my clematis on. Found this attractive maypole which was very easy to assemble but when I started attaching the twine the crown broke off. Thankfully I have a neighbor who welded it back together for me. I still plan to use it for my climbing plants.

Comments about Garden Maypole:
I set this up in a raised bed last week after reading the reviews. It seems the weakest point is the crown which is screwed onto the pole. There is no way to replace this screw with a stainless steel screw, since the metal screw is welded onto the top of the bean pole. So I had to take care. All the tension of the plants are on this crown since all the jute strings are attached to 15 hooks on the crown. The bottom strings are attached to stakes that go into the ground. The stakes need to be angled 90 degrees from the string, or 45 degrees from the ground for greatest stability. Since my raised bed soil is a little soft, I have reinforced the stakes from pulling out of the ground with an earth staple over each stake. So far it seems to be holding well.

The crown broke off during the first season of use BEFORE the beans had even started growing. Really disappointed and would love a refund or product credit...

Comments about Garden Maypole:
The crown broke off just as soon as the beans were bearing. All were lost. Then when I tried to take the base out of the ground, the bottom screw broke. It is unfortunate. I liked the look for my kitchen garden, and didn't experience the difficulty in set up that others had. (We secured the pole with long earth staples attached to four of the strings.) But that doesn't help if the things collapses anyway.

Comments about Garden Maypole:
We put this up in late spring to hold green bean plants. I was a little worried about whether it would remain upright and staked it carefully, including putting large rocks on either side to help brace it. The beans grew up it as advertised and things seemed o.k. until today, in late September, when I found that it had snapped in half, completely rusted through, and my beans were all in the mud. Very disappointing.

I will use the Maypole to grow sugar snaps and am looking forward to having the area for them to grow and climb. We had no problems assembling it as stated by some previous reviews.
