New & Exclusive | All-in-One Elevated Bed and Cold Frame Extends the Growing Season

  • Elevated garden and cold frame is easy to plant, tend and harvest without bending
  • An attractive landscape addition that adds privacy and defines garden areas
  • Polycarbonate cold frame top lets you start gardening earlier in spring and grow later into fall
  • VIDEO: Tour our Vermont factory

This beautiful elevated bed includes a matching cold frame top to protect plants from harsh weather, making it perfect for starting seeds, hardening off transplants, and growing greens and other cool-season crops. The 2' x 8' elevated bed is easy to plant, tend and harvest without kneeling or bending. There's a false floor made from marine-grade plywood set 10" down from the top so there's plenty of root space for vegetables and flowers. Floor has holes for drainage; vents in the sides allow air to circulate and excess moisture to evaporate. The cold frame top is made with polycarbonate panels that diffuse light so plants don't "cook," and there are adjustable aluminum braces to hold panels at various intervals for ventilation.

  • Cedar, polycarbonate, aluminum
  • Elevated bed is 24" W x 96" L x 29" H
  • Cold frame is 7-1/4" H at the front, 14-3/4" high at the back
  • Assembly required

Best Uses

I ordered the first of April, so in Colorado we still had a month of very cold nights. I have been able to start petunias, sunflowers, zinnias and herbs in the unit. On the very cold nights I secure a blanket and sheet over the top to hold in the day heat. I will use it to start fall crops. I also plan on wintering cold crops as well, it will get a homemade quilt with plastic windows.

I did have a few glitches with the products advertising and not getting what was shown. The hinges that are shown to hold the windows in place are not available. After many conversations with the more than friendly costumer service department we were able to work it out with 100 percent satisfaction. They really do provide you with a solution to make you want to do business again. I have used this company for 10 years.
