As with most squirrel proof feeders, the squirrels eventually figure it out. The lid is not secured tightly. Eventually, the squirrels figure out to lift off the lid. Today I came home to find a squirrel inside the feeder eating seed. But, it took several months for that to happen.

The bird have liked the more open feeders I have had, but so have the squirrels. They just sit in them. This one is perfect, the birds like them, especially the cardinals. Last year I had 4 pairs. They are real easy to fill. I haven't had anything negative about it.

I like this feeder for its size and ease of use. But in the future they should consider designing the cover a little broader--with more overhang to protect the seed from driving rain. When the seed is wet: a.) the birds won't eat it and b.) it doesn't flow well. Also the feed 'holes' are a little small, so that when trying to clear the wet seed out, it is difficult to get to.
Functions according to design when dry...
Needs a little design improvement and then it will be perfect!
