Easy-Plant Weed Block Mulch

I covered a newly tilled area of the garden that was previously grass. It seems to be working well to kill the grass. My tomato plants are in this area and doing great! The holes to plant in are a little small but easily enlarged with a scissors.

First year I have bought this. Made planting so much easier this year. Will buy more next year.

I had to split the product to plant rows of seeds in the veg garden. This is good if you are putting in established plants, the spacing of the perforations is very good for this. I don't think I will be using this next year, but I'll make that decision at the end of the summer.

I bought two of these to use in my four 12x4 raised beds. They were perfect. I cut them, pinned them down with garden pins and then simply pulled open the circles that I wanted to drop seeds into. I was worried it might be difficult to rip the circles open once the sheet was pinned down, but they ripped easily. The rest of the sheet is durable, and does not rip easily, which is a good thing since I want the pins to hold it down all season. I added some mulch on top to help make sure the wind doesn't get under it and to help my plants. I put a soaker hose under the sheet. Rain will pool on top of it, but of course will go in the holes that were ripped open. My only complaint is that a few of the holes were already ripped open, or partially ripped, on one sheet when I opened the package.

We used the weed block around my annuals. It helped us to get the plants in evenly spaced.
The only bad thing was getting the dirt back around the plants under the cover.

This takes the guesswork out of spacing and is perfect on a new raised bed. Following a rain, the water pools where I have the soil lumpy and not level, so that had to be fixed, but otherwise very pleased in advanced with the help for weed control.

Excited about trying this product! See it all the time on commercial tomato gardens! Great for plants that like warmer root systems!

I used this to warm the soil early in season for eggplants and peppers When you are ready to plant, just pop out the precut circles and you are ready to go. Spacing is excellent and also lets you interplant marigolds and basil to keep bugs away. Really keeps weeds and weeding to a minimum. Wish this came in red for my tomatoes. Perfect for 4 foot wide raised beds.

Being desperate for an edge in my battle against the weeds, I thought I'd try this plastic "mulch" in my raised beds this year. I was pleased to find its width is more than adequate for my raised beds, and that the pre-perforated planting holes are spaced fairly well and offer different spacing options. The perforations are easily torn, but do not generally tear when I don't want them to.

My primary concern with this product is that there is no water penetration whatsoever - water pools up on the plastic. While adequate water might filter in through the holes where the plants reside during rainfall, I don't think that will be the case - thus, beds with this product install will likely need manual watering.

With proper care, I could see the plastic mulch lasting more than one season.

All in all, I would say this product is worth the price.
