Earwig
Earwig: (Size=1 inch)
Found all over the United States. These reddish-brown nocturnal creatures feed primarily on decaying organic matter or other insects,
hiding in dark, damp places during the day. When their populations are high, they may cause damage in the garden by feeding on a variety of plants such as lettuce, corn, celery, tender young seedlings, and blossoms and ripening fruits.
Controls:
Trap earwigs by filling a flowerpot with crumpled paper. Invert it in the garden propped up with a stick. Earwigs will crawl into the paper during the day to hide, at which point they can be destroyed.
Spray earwigs with neem oil.
