Exclusive | Dual-Batch Compost Tumbler Has Two Rotating Bins

  • VIDEO: Dual-Batch Compost Tumbler
  • Produce high quality compost quickly and efficiently
  • Let one bin "cook" while you add fresh materials to the other side
  • Two bins rotate separately; each bin holds approximately 3 cubic feet

Batch composting is the fastest and most efficient way to produce high quality compost, and this dual bin tumbler makes it easy. Fill one side with kitchen scraps and yard waste, then stop adding materials and let it "cook," turning it every few days to speed up the decomposition process. In the meantime, add new scraps to the other side. When the first batch of compost is finished, remove it and repeat the process, letting the other side cook.

Recycled Plastic
  • Assembly required
  • Recycled black polypropylene, steel
  • 28-1/2" W x 25" D x 37-1/4" H overall
  • Each bin holds approx. 3 cubic feet (22 dry gallons)

Comments about Dual-Batch Compost Tumbler:

Took 3 of us to assemble. The assembly instructions were useless. The 6 different pieces of pipe need to be assembled exactly right or it will not be level or you can't get the tumblers in it. The doors don't go on easily and they don't explain how to attach or what the plastic tubes are for. It has a very small capacity and I filled it up quickly just with kitchen scraps. I would say ok for apt dwellers or small home gardening. There are no instructions on how to use it either. It does not tell you when to turn, what to put in etc. for best results.

We've put off purchasing a batch composter until now. Previous ones we've researched just didn't seem to meet our needs. This unit does. We're looking forward to warmer weather to get it started. Will let you know then how we're doing.

I can use this composter instead of lugging garden waste down 3 floors. and eventually I hope to not have to lug bags of dirt up those same flights.

        Comments about Dual-Batch Compost Tumbler:

My previous composter had good capacity, but was a metal drum which rusted out in only 2 years. I anticipate this one will last -- but after having it for only 1 1/2 months, I've already filled both sides. Larger bins would be better. A crank to assist in mixing would also be helpful.

          Comments about Dual-Batch Compost Tumbler:

I recently bought this, so haven't harvested any compost yet, but it seems to be working, and I expect some by spring. It helps to add a compost additive, like the eco coir bricks. I added some, and it has speeded up the decomposition.

We live in a beach community. This is great because neighbors are close and with the composter being closed up the little flies stay inside and each day I turn each side several times. Have not had it long enough to find out if it get done quickly.

            Comments about Dual-Batch Compost Tumbler:

I read the reviews (every last one) on this site, and knew that the drain holes were sizable - a little too large, perhaps - so I covered the drain holes with fiberglsass window screen prior to completing the assembly of the tumbler. The appeal of a composter that didn't sit on the ground was that it would be less attractive to vermin, and if it dripped food scraps that would defeat the purpose (I chop my scraps up to help speed things along, and the drain holes are definitely large enough to let those bits fall out - they're about US half-dollar size).

After the screens were installed, the rest of the assembly was easy and straightforward. Earlier reviews complain about the instructions, but they were clear to me, and I put everything together on my own (though it would have been a little easier with a second person at some points).

One thing to note is that you'll need a level bit of ground on which to place your composter. That may seem obvious, however it was tricky for us as we are in a hilly location.

As we're working on our first batch now, I can't attest to how quickly or easily materials are broken down and how a finished batch turns out. Even so, I would give the unit 5 stars if I hadn't needed to compensate for the large drain holes on my own.

              Comments about Dual-Batch Compost Tumbler:

I've wanted to compost for years but it seemed so cumbersome... I was worried about smell, pests, and having to turn the pile. This one is perfect! No smell, no unslightly piles, turns easily! Anxious to use my wonderful compost in the garden next year!
