Comments about Downspout Diverter:

Super easy to install once you know where to put it, I ended up installing mine a little too high due to the instructions not being specific enough. It still works well, but would work better had I put it in the precise location.

    Comments about Downspout Diverter:

I have used four of these for three years and they work. Install after getting the barrel at the height you want first as the connector hose from this to the barrel has to be level. There is a small hole in the bottom, presumably so ice does doesn't build up. I put a galvanized screw in the hole so it drips instead of running. Works for me but in colder climates maybe not. My only difficulty is the connector hose needs to fit tight in the holes in this unit and into the barrel and I put the barrels inside for winter so have to do it annually. I'd love a screw on connector - easier on my old hands. Maybe I'll check at a hardware store. When storing the barrels I tuck the barrel end of the connector hose into the top of this unit beside the downspout and secure it with twine. You could devise some sort of plug instead.

    Comments about Downspout Diverter:

I'm a 66-yr-old woman with hand problems and installed this myself! I hooked up 4 rain barrels to it, linking them together using sections of the linking hose that came with it. Downside was that I had to go to an auto parts store (hardware store didn't have big enough ones) to buy 6 costly gaskets to make it work. Gardener's Supply really needs to offer extra gaskets for sale! The instructions say to keep the connection from the diverter to the first barrel as straight as possible, but my setup didn't allow for this. The 18" curved connection works just fine as it is supported by lattice. After the first rain, I was disappointed to find that a single small leaf had blocked the hole leading to the barrel and so no water was captured. I cobbled together a cover out of PVC moulding scraps and installed a leaf-catcher in the drain spout. Voila! This morning all 4 barrels were full after an 1" of rain overnight!

            Comments about Downspout Diverter:

I found this product to be very sturdy, easy to install and works great. However when inspecting and installing, I found a small hole next to the hose opening on the bottom that left water leak which would take away from water going into the hose or the overflow tube.

              Comments about Downspout Diverter:

Product is very easy to install, and it works exactly as advertised. The design is so simple I wish I had thought of it. We live in Oklahoma City, which has endured several consecutive dry summers. This year, I installed this diverter, and after one, not particularly heavy rain, we had filled a 50-gallon barrel. So we bought a second barrel, and after a similarly mild rain we had filled that barrel as well. It's no exaggeration that we could easily have filled 200-300 gallons of rain water if we had had enough barrels. We recommend this product without hesitation. It's so simple (yet scientific) I wish I'd designed it!

                Comments about Downspout Diverter:

I bought a rain barrel from one of the county extensions services and was able to use this ~ 3 feet away from my downspout. I have 2 other rain barrels that I purchased from GSC 4-5 years ago and they all work well. The only downfall, which cannot be fixed, is when it rains hard, there is overflow out of the connection. I have solved this by using rocks below the downspout to help with the excess water. Read the directions a few times and walk through the setup before you cut your downspout. I had to re-screw the diverter into the house as I did not understand initially how it fit. I set the rain barrel on concrete blocks with a 20X20 square stone on top to lift it off the ground so I can use my watering cans. So measure where you cut with this in mind.

We put this in a location that was hard to reach with a hose and it works out perfectly. The color options have worked out fine. Installation took little time as long as you have the right tools.

                  Comments about Downspout Diverter:

This devise makes the routing of the downspout into a deversion device much less conspicuous. Much less waste then using a rain chain for directing the water. Wish it came in a putty color that matches our gutters.
