We have been composting for years. I ordered this for my husband. We had a real nice one built years ago with pressure treated lumber. It finally started deteriating so we got this. We looked at all of the others but liked this concept the best of all.

for this price, the screw holes should at least line up. I had to re-drill a majority of them. The fasteners are also in places difficult to get to. clearly no quality control in manufacture. After reading the other reviews I suspect there is great variation, mine was a dud...good luck

I researched various bins over the past year and this summer I decided to call Gardener's Supply Company for basic information. I had a wonderful (educational!) conversation with a representative who helped me nail down the style of bin best suited for my needs. One of my main concerns was the stability of the bin (my husband actually purchased a different bin last spring from a local garden shop but we quickly returned it due to its flimsy structure). So now our Deluxe Pyramid bin is up and running. I was able to put this bin together quite easily although I did need the help of my 6 year old to hold the sides in place while putting in screws. A couple of the screw holes were tight but not a problem. The bin is very sturdy and the lid fits perfect. I ordered the bin in brown and it blends into the backyard landscape nicely. No leaking, no yucky odors, easy to aerate, great for kitchen scraps and autumn leaves. The only reason I did not give it 4 stars is because I havent had it long enough to experience the compost process yet.

This is my first composter. It looked to small but it holds enough material for my purposes: waste from a small garden, clippings from my small lawn, and veggie food scraps. I'm a month in now and am not sure how I will turn the compost. Will figure that out as I go. The cost seemed a bit high, however; It appears to be heavy duty material that will serve me without needing to be replaced for many years. Money well spent.

It was easy to put together by myself and looks nice. I used the long anchor stakes and the rodent screen and found them easy to install. This is my first composting bin so I am just getting started and look forward to learning how to best use it.

I wrote to Gardeners Supply asking for advice about a composter that would not allow critters easy access. The deluxe pyramid composter was the model recommended to me. Within three days of assembly, atleast one rodent had chewed its way into the composter through the vent holes on the bottom (too easy!!) I am VERY frustrated as this was a problem I had identified when I wrote for advice!!!
