there are several large bur oak trees growing in our yard. these beautiful trees have big leaves, and the shredder makes a fine textured mulch of them. we use the mulch in gardening projects.
it would be totally perfect if it would only rake up the leaves for us!

Great product, easy to use! Does a terrific job mulching all leaves, wet or dry. Be careful of small twigs as these tend to wear down the cutting line quickly, but lines are easy to replace.

Though a tad noisy - it does it's job. My Dad had a similiar model so when I saw this in the booklet - I had to get it. I just wish I bought it in the beginning of the fall season and saved on leaf bags.

I am using this to reduce the leaves to compost faster and to provide mulch for the garden.
The first time I used this I remembered to use a dustmask, but last week I did not, and was very sorry. The dust really flies around from the shredding, and one needs protection from it.

The two huge trees that give me great shade also give me tons of leaves, sugar maple and pin oak, and now all those leaves are either in my compost bins or on the gardens. And it was such fun to throw them in and watch the tiny pieces fall into the great red tub below. Then the tub was so light to carry to the compost. Happy leafing!

In an effort to get come use out of the leaves that inundate the yard each year (aprt from the exercise of raking them!) I decdied to try my hand at shredding the leaves to use as mulch next season. This shredder made the process much easier. It handled wet and dry leaves with no trouble and even munched up some twigs which got through the vetting process without destroying the cutting "wires". And we found that changing the cutters is the easiest switch of similar items that we have ever found. No tools, no hystrionics, no problem :-) I'm definitely pleased I invested in this - it will be my friend for many years :-)
