The deer chaser in Maryland works like a deer entertainer. The deer just stand there and listen while they eat plants in my yard. I'm disappointed. Maybe as an alternate- recordings of Johann Phillip Sousa's marches played very loud would scare away these deer, but then my neighbors would be very unhappy about the noise! Try this product only if you have deer that are not acclumated to humans and their noise.

We purchased six of these to form a perimeter barrier around a large area in our yard. The motion detectors are very sensitive, which we wanted, being set off by birds, chickens, and branches moving in a breeze. The units were going off almost continually, and I think the deer got so used to the talk radio that it lost it's "startle" effect. Another reason they didnt work for us is that the deer live in such close proximity to our property, they are unafraid of human voices. We have a real deer problem here and I'm disappointed this didnt work. They were completely unphased by the noise and light. These might work in more isolated areas where deer arent used to humans at all.

I placed the Deer Chaser on one of the trees at a corner of my garden. Tilted it down some and the cats even set it off! I've tuned the radio into NPR which has a lot of talk shows on and as the directions suggested, the deer must be frightened once the light and sound comes on as they try to enter the garden area. No deer damage since it was installed!!!!! Hurray!

As we were sitting outside with the Deer Chaser music on, we watched with amusement the Deer standing just a few feet from the device eating away my flowers. I was going to order two more devises,but two are enough failure.

Worked very well so far until we had a downpour. Unit was soaked through and through. I am letting it dry out in hopes of reviving it. Because it worked so well so far, I am taking a chance and ordering another unit. But I will make sure that it is protected from the rain.

The deer do stay away from the shrubbery near the deer chaser, but they stand just beyond the light. My husband came home one night to find 4 deer in our yard. He commented that the deer were enjoying the beautiful symphony being provided to them. But they DO stay away from the shrubs. We will see how well it works in the spring when the flowers begin to bloom.

Fawns and Adult deer are absent from our large day lily garden since installing the Deer Chaser.
It is not offensively loud, does detect movement -- volume and sensitivity are adjustable.
Only issue is the motion detection is triggered by wind blowing the day lily leaves. Even w/ this batteries have lasted three weeks plus.
A small price to pay versus the day lilies cost.

This device really works! I had deer getting into my sweet corn. I set the Garden Sentry on a tree close to the garden and tuned it to a 24 Hr talk station in my area. The deer stayed out of the garden after that, they must not have liked the flashing light and the talk show host.
