I actually bought this kit a year ago and wanted to try it out before I did a review. Finally a seed starting kit I can use over and over. The cells are nice deep so the plant roots have enough room to grow. Would be nice if it came with an extra mat.

Be very careful with what you buy. I purchased Deep Root Seedstarting System, but was disappointed in when I received it. I called to return and all they said was go to Fed-ex. I went to the US Postal package and the cheapest rate was $34.00 the price of one of the seedstarters. This will be the last time I use Gardners.

This product is easy to set up and small enough for starting seeds in smaller places. It fits perfectly under my 2' grow light and is attractive enough to leave out. The dome lid contains the warmth and moisture early on and the watering system is fail-proof! I have a hard time remembering to water indoor plants and seeds so this is ideal for me! Just fill the water reservoir and the kit does the rest. My seeds have sprouted already on day 3.

This is a great seed starter. I wish you could add water without removing the lid (like the APS) seed starters. That is my main complaint, it is also a little spendy. I like that this product is sturdy and long lasting, and that the lid is tall. I live in a cold climate and I have to start seedlings indoors quite early. You never know when it will stop snowing and freezing outside, so sometimes my seedlings get pretty big before I can put them outside, so I like the tall lid for that reason.
I use cowpots in this system instead of the plastic cells that come with it - less shock to the plants, easier to translplant. Another reason that I like the tall lid.

I use it to grow all of my tomato seeds. The great thing is, anyone can start seeds with this system. I just wish it came with a shorter top with the 40 cell tray,top is to tall for 40 cell trays it only needs to be 4 inches tall to prevent leggy seedlings under your grow lights.

Was hoping that this seedstarting system would be a great way to pre-launch carrots and radishes. Had to send for assembly instructions as none came with the unit. Have loaded the system 2 times now as no seedlings were found after 4 weeks in operation. I am now 10 days into the second 'loading' and still do not see any seedling evidence. Odd.
