My son had been looking at this item or ones similar to it for a couple of years and thought it neat that the candle would go out on it's own. When I saw it on sale I got it for him and a set of refils. It goes nicely with his wood stove and country lifestyle.

For the money, I expected 100% quality craftmanship. I kept them, hoping to repair their flaws; wax not lined up, center stake bent to the side and overall quality not there. Made in Vietnam and the packaging had an offensive odor.

The mechanism to move the candle up doesn't work because the collar gets too hot so the candle sticks to the sleeve. It is also difficult to straighten the candle segments, which I did not realize was required in or to function.

I was disappointed with the quality. The middle rod is crooked and the wax drips upon the base. I haven't changed the ring of wax yet but it appears to be a difficult task. The picture in the catalog is far more attractive that the actual product.
