Many soil mixes are too heavy for good root growth and contain few, if any, nutrients. Our Vermont-made mix contains nutrient-rich compost for energy, and sphagnum peat moss and vermiculite for aeration and water retention. It's the perfect growing medium in containers, especially self-watering containers. Try it yourself and see why it's the choice of professional growers everywhere.

While I haven't used this soil for very long, it appears to be excellent for my container gardening. It has a good consistency, and since it is purportedly specially formulated for use in containers, I am hoping to see good outcomes with my plants. That remains to be seen in the months to come.

Very light, fine, porous mix that drains well and is moisture-retentive without being soggy. I ordered it because I liked the composition.I used it for outdoor vegetable and flower containers, adding fertilizer, and plants did well. I just started to use this mix for indoor containers. None have been self-watering. It's as good or better than other mixes I've used.

Used this soil amendment to mix with the Vermont Compost Booster and with native ground soil. Very easy to mix. Also, mixed it with some limestone and enough pelleted: (powdered ground) plant fertilizer to it. Don't like it when the soil mixture gets very wet and messy. Did it for the two hot pepper plants.

I use it for all of my houseplants and for planters in the summer. It drains well, is easy to handle and is organic.

A year ago I repotted all my house plants with a commercial mix. This spring they were not thriving - little new growth, brown tips. [...] I repotted my plants and do not exaggerate when I say that overnight there was a visible, dramatic difference. Even my non-gardener husband noticed that all the plants were now standing straight up. They all continue to thrive - vibrant color, steady growth, upright stems. I also like that it's easy to tell when they need watering and, for the ones that are self-watering, it really is the perfect mix.

I have used this product for the last 3 years in my self watering boxes on my deck. I have had cherry tomatoes that are over 5 feet tall and produce tons of great tasting tomatoes. I ordered more for this year.

This container mix was easy to use, drained well but held moisture for the plants, and was easy to harvest root crops in. As I expand my gardening space with the use of containers, I am happy to find such a good mix.

I use it in my upside down tomato planters because regular soil doesn't hold water well enough.
