I bought this as a gift for my wife. Plus, I was starting to get tired of seeing seedling trays on every possible horizontal space possible in our spare bathroom (aka - the nursery).

Setup wasn't bad. Would have gone quickier if I fully read the instructions and didn't assume some steps. I had to unbolt/rebolt some things because of screw lengths.

Set it up in the bathroom and moved all the trays to it. The seedlings were in love. I'd never seen our seedlings take off so quick and fast. Even our discounted venus fly trap found new life and grew so fast it burnt a flower bud on the lamp.

Look forward to using this when time to prep for the fall/winter harvest.

I put this together by myself. It is a nice unit. I gave it only 4 stars because it could use some design improvements as stated with the other reviews. The cords cause the fixtures to tilt so you need to affix them to the side rails to take of the weight. There are a lot of cords. The unit itself is very nice though.

The instructions I think could have better pictures. I missed reading the part where the smaller bolts are to be used at the top and I missed the part where it said the bottom of the left and right bars had holes all around and I assembled it upside down. It would be nice if the top and bottom corner poles were marked top and bottom (you will understand what I am talking about when you go to put yours together) The instructions call out for a small split ring and these items were not in the hardware. Not sure even where they would be used or even if they are needed. If not they should be removed from the instructions

The other thing that could be improved upon is the shipping box of the poles and hardware. A couple of the corners of the some of the pieces were bent and I had to try and straighten them out. Paying this kind of price there should be no damage what so ever.

I noticed that some people had a hard time getting the chains in what I did was lay the unit on it's side and dropped the chain in and taped the ring to the side then flipped it over and did the other side the same then when all the chains were in I flipped the unit upright and attached all the fixtures then removed the tape and adjusted the height of the fixtures. It was very easy.

The customer service was wonderful. I knew when I ordered the unit it was on back order. When it was even going to take longer they called me and left me a message to let me know and provided a phone number if I had questions. So that was nice. They didn't leave you wondering...I also appreciate the opportunity for the payment plan as I wouldn't be able to afford this unit without it. After it is paid off I might buy another one so I can get more African violets. LOL

Attractive unit and sturdy. A good value compared to other lighting systems. I was missing a couple of pieces and customer service was great getting these pieces to me.

The pulley system using lightweight ball chains and fragile chain connectors is not well designed. Repositioning the light reflectors (up and down) requires you to move one side at a time, raising one side and then walking to the other side to raise the opposite side. Using ball chains makes pulling the pulley very rough. A substantial nylon rope instead would be much smoother.

Improvements could also be made to the electrical cord system. Each light reflector (3) has its own electrical cord dangling down the side of the unit. It would be nice if this was consolidated into only one cord.

Overall, though, I'm happy with the unit and would recommend.

Some specs:
(3) sturdy trays with inside measurements of 21" X 14".
From bottom of tray to the bottom of grow light bulb at it's highest position is 15 1/4".
All three levels have the same dimensions including height of lights.

For taller plants, put plants on middle tier tray and remove middle light reflector. Use the light reflector on the top tier to provide light to the plants you put on the middle tier. Using this configuration you give up one tray but expand height for up to 39" plants.

Very satisfied with this set up. I'm very glad I have a professional looking light set up that can be on our main living floor. Good quality materials, and sturdy! The shelf trays are amazingly thick. The compact size with the three trays fits well where I anticipated. Very glad I did not settle for the 2 tier. My husband was traveling when it arrived, but I was able to assemble all but the hood in just over an hour. Instructions were good. One hood had both the snaps to the chain flattened, but I managed to reshape them which took a very long time. Other than than every piece was in excellent shape, and set up was easy. In 4 days under these lights, my seedlings are doing so much better. For me, this was worth the price! Thank you Gardener's!

This was time consuming to put together but worth the effort! The lights seem brighter than my regular florescent tubes and the plants are growing well. I was able to put it together by myself but it took about 3 hours. It looks good and works great. Adjusting the light height is a little tricky, but the chains make for a clever design. I appreciated that the assembly instructions were written by someone who speaks English, unlike some other products I have put together. After my seeds get started I plan to use it for house plants since the lights can adjust high enough.

I have never written a review before but thought I needed to let people know what a wonderful experience this was. I purchased the 3-Tier compact version and 2 packages of the Coir Seedstarting Mix last Friday and recieved everything on Tues. early morning - around 9am (which never happens - that I get deliveries that early in the morning!) I was so excited - so not expecting that this would have been delivered so fast. I put everything together and started some seeds with the coir mix and already my Zinnias are sprouting .. and it's only Friday! Thank you so much!! Your customer service is amazing. I love these grow lights. I bought the 3 tier compact unit was going to go with the 2 stand but glad I went up. This light stand is attractive. Nice to showcase. My tomatoes are growing well. I also have bell peppers and eggplant seeds are doing well. Love it! My next purchase is the green house. I am sooo eyeing it.

The T5 grow lights are wonderful. They are cool and do not burn seedlings. I began some spinach and broccoli etc...10 days ago plus some geraniums. They are all sprouting nicely. I had considered getting the 2 tier stand but am very happy that I bought the 3 tier version because it takes up the same floor space and has the added benefit of allowing light to spilling onto some citrus trees that I have sitting on the floor close to the stand. The citrus trees are budding (that never happened in January before). I recommend using it with a power strip and timer as well as gardening velcro. Use the velcro to tie the 3 light cords to the frame so the lights stay more parallel to the seed tray instead of allowing the weight of the cord to cause the light piece to become NON-parallel. Also i recommend reading the instructions through to the end before assembling the stand to avoid putting parts on backwards. I used a bread or trash bag tie (the wire type) to thread the adjustable light chains through the stand frame. The instructions could be better, but once assembled it is easy to use. I LOVE IT!

My gardening space is limited. I enjoy the compactness of the product. I will use it year round. Perfect for seed starting and hardening seedling stems before transferring to the ground or container. I have 216 healthy plants ready to put in the garden now and expect a bumper crop this year!
