After wanting this for several years, I finally bought it and am so happy with it. My vegetables look great and everything is doing so well that I have 3 shifts of trays (8 hours each). I may have planted too much! I'm going to use it to start my winter veggies this summer. I may be adding another next year!

Set up is not hard and can be done by one person. Just lay all of the parts out ahead of time. I had one problem with a diagram that did not match the part. One phone call to the hotline and everything was good. I will say that the ballasts are not very well made at the point of connection with the light tube. One was broken and although replaced immediately without question I am concerned the others may not hold up over time. Time will tell. Regarding a comment by another customer, about the cords making the hoods crocked, I just used zip ties to support the cord in place and no problem.

This light stand is attractive enough to stand in my kitchen. The only problem I have with it is that the electrical cord attached to each light weights that side of the light which prevent the light from hanging straight. Probably won't bother everybody but I do find it annoying. Other than that its a great product.

The 3-tier compact kit is perfect for the space I have available. I can start a lot of plants in a small space and still have room for growing herbs to use year round. It was easy to put together and is very sturdy. I already have pots of herbs sprouting and am looking forward to starting veggie and flower plants this spring.

This purchase was a dream come true for me. I love to garden, but never had the conditions to start my own seeds. This year, we decided to spoil me and get this wonderful device. We got the two narrow ones which are beautiful enough to have in our formal sunroom flanking our recliner. Now it is months later, and my garden is chock full of plants that I raised from seed using this easy as pie system. I am continuing to use it so that plants will be ready when I need them later in the summer. We now have the perfect set up, and it is much less work this way. Easy watering, light control, and level adjustment. Wonderful. Worth every penny.

It took a little bit of time to assemble (get a 2nd person if you can) but it is well-made and looks great. It is VERY easy to adjust the lamp height and the included timer is a snap to setup.

I like the ease of building this unit. Also the little amount of space it utilizes is great. My peppers and tomatoes are going out this week to be planted. The timer works great setting the right amount of light. I purchasd a heat mat to get a jump start on the seed germination.The amount of seeds that can be germinated basically with have the unit pay for itself in about 2 years and enjoying the pleasure of starting my garden and flowers from seeds.This cart is very light weight but strong when fully assembled.
The height is perfect for checking the trays on it.

This was my first effort at seedstarting, and I'm glad I sprung for the jump-start kit. After one false start (involving the first tray germinating about twice as fast as anticipated, and languishing in the dark), my seedlings are up and running. Pretty much every single seed has germinated, especially the varieties that you start under light (salvia, balsam) -- I planted them, popped them under the lights, and they germinated in about three days. They all look good, although as other reviewers have noted, the ones at the very edge of the tray sort of lean over towards the light, which doesn't quite reach them. I turned the tray horizontal (one Fast Start tray, plus a couple of small pots per tier), and it seems fine. Just don't bank on squeezing in 6 Fast Start trays on the 3-tier light cart without some attrition along the edges! Also, this was kind of a pain to put together, but I managed it myself without too much trouble -- just read the directions carefully and give yourself some time!

The lights don't cover enough space. Using the trays that come with it, the seedlings in the outside cells get leggy straining towards the light. Still, it's a good-looking stand, takes up a lot less space than my previous countertop rig, and you can get a lot of seedlings going.
