Unlike other coirs, our Eco-co Coir undergoes a special process to remove salts and to balance the pH for optimal plant growth. Then it's finely ground to provide the perfect environment for seedling roots. Eco-co Coir has excellent water-holding capacity yet drains well — so important for healthy root growth. Simply add water and each convenient compressed brick expands to 10 quarts of fluffy planting mix.

Comments about Eco-co Coir™ Seedstarting Mix:
Very good quality product. I use them for seedlings and for container plants. You do need to supplement it with fertilizer and perhaps azomite. I really prefer this to peat=based products. It never gets hydrophobic like peat products can. You do need to be careful with your watering. It holds water extremely well, almost too well. For containers, I mix with perlite and vermeculite.

Comments about Eco-co Coir™ Seedstarting Mix:
Cannot store it in its original package. After opening and adding water I had to find a large conatiner to hold it and keep it under control. I added soil to make a consistency I could work with. It held moisture so my seed sprouts didn't dry out when I forgot to water.
I plan to continue to use it to lighten older potting soil.

Comments about Eco-co Coir™ Seedstarting Mix:
I originally purchased this to use for seed starting and it worked very well. Then I read that it can be used for containers by mixing in 1/2 and 1/2 with potting soil and also in the garden. So I ordered more and used it in my salad bar, grow bags and other containers. I have also added it to my garden when planting perennials to break up the clay in the soil. Then I decided to use more in my vegetable garden instead of the peat moss I used to use. This method is alot greener and I'm all for saving our planet! I won't know how well it worked in my gardens but my salad greens, spinach, blueberry bush and hanging baskets are all growing and looking happy so far. It is also very easy to use and store.

Comments about Eco-co Coir™ Seedstarting Mix:
Seems like decent quality and produces a good amount of mix once it's been wet down. It's always hard to judge how much is present when sizes are given in quarts, cubic feet, etc., but I was pleased about the amount a brick produced by comparison with another seller.
