Carry a Bushel of Coir Mulch in One Hand

We’ve all been there: lugging heavy bags of mulch to the car, straining our backs and making a mess. These dehydrated coir mulch blocks weigh just 9 pounds and are delivered right to your door. Just add water and in 20 minutes, you’ll have 2 cubic feet of earth-friendly mulch. Made from coconut husks, coir has better water retention than bark, and reduces the temperature and moisture fluctuation by 50%. Keeps its rich color, too.

  • Lightweight mulch block hydrates to 2 cu. ft. of mulch
  • Mulch helps suppress weeds and conserves soil moisture
  • 100% organic, biodegradable and renewable
  • One block covers 12 sq. ft. at a 2" depth; 8 sq. ft at a 3" depth

    Comments about Mulch Block:

I have ordered more and more of this product over several years. It is great to store on a shelf in the garage for use when the need arises.
I have just this past fall decided to try dropping the open block on a difficult to navigate area of my yard and then hosing it down intil it was wet and expanded in place and ready to just rake around the area. SUPER ! sure wish it was not so costly so I could buy more ! Good Stuff !

          Comments about Mulch Block:

...but then after using it for two seasons, he is now encouraging me to re-order. I originally bought about 12 blocks which lasted us two years with our small gardens. We moved into a home with no flowers - only trees and shrubs and the soil was poor. We used leaves to enhance the soil and this mulch and our flowers keep looking better every year. And we don't need to water as much. It is worth the price and I enjoy the fact that it is light weight and easy to use. It is well packaged and will store well in a garage or shed without taking up too much space.

          Not Enough

              Comments about Mulch Block:

I wanted to add mulch to my perennial garden without having to carry heavy bags of mulch from the garden center. While this product was light it did not cover nearly as much area as the catalogue description said it would. It is much too expensive to use as garden mulch. I did use it to create a path through the garden.

                Comments about Mulch Block:

The cubes are easy to carry to any location in your garden. I mixed mine in an old wash tub and it worked great. I didn't have to go back and forth, lifting numerous wheel barrels full of mulch. I'd order it again.
Con: A little messy to make.

These mulch blocks are wonderful. They stack and store well until I am ready to use them.Once I am ready they hydrate quickly, and look great around my plants. They have a slight earthy smell that dissipates quickly, and have a mix of textures that lead me to believe that they will break down slowly, and I should only have "top off" this mulch, not replace it every year.My ONLY complaint is price.[...](The price didn't keep me from reordering when I started to run out-I like the look and ease of use that much!)

                  Comments about Mulch Block:

I was happy that this was easy to carry to use where I needed it. Be advised that you need a large tub or wheelbarrow to mix it with water so it can expand. I put it around my fruit trees and they seem to like it. We are in a severe drought so I am watering only once a week to keep my new trees alive. The mulch helps keep the water from evaporating so fast. I have noticed that ants love to live in the mulch.

It is very attractive in a display garden, but it would take a lot to be effective with weeds, and it is too expensive to use in a large quantity.
