I read that this was for outdoor use, but I really wanted to try it indoors because of the elegant look. I found the perfect spot in my living/dining area that could tolerate the minimal splash (really only happens when I turn it on and off!). I dampened the splash occurrence by putting small pebbles over the screens where the water drains...perfect and actually enhanced the sound! The base is connected to the pump and when I first got it, plugged it in and discovered it did not work, I called (a Sunday PM!) got a live person who was extremely understanding and helpful and she said not to worry, they will send out a new base. I just had to pack the old non-working one and send it back (they paid all the shipping). I can't say enough about the customer service department. I love the fountain even though I am using it indoors, I will say that the flow needs to be on high so that the 'cups' will properly flow into each other. I would definately recommend this product

I am even using it inside my home. Because of the very minimal splashing, I've placed it on a rug. This fountain has made a beautiful and artistic addition to my home decor!

I had to add a couple of rocks of equal height to support the base in order for the water to flow through the pump without kinking the supply hose.
