Speedy Berry Picker

  • Handy scoop speeds up berry harvesting
  • Ideal for a variety of berries, including blueberries and blackberries
  • Bright red color makes it easy to spot in the garden

Berry growers use large box-like combs to quickly separate the berries from the stems. We've found one that's better suited for home gardening. Blueberries, huckleberries and blackberries pop right off the plant and into the basket. Ergonomic handle design.

  • Sturdy plastic
  • 6" L x 4" W

    Comments about Berry Comb:

To help folks decide on the size issue, here's what the packaging insert says:

    ---
    Child's Berry Picker ...
... for harvesting of small berries!
Makes berry picking easy for children!
    Swedish design
    Easy-to-hold-handle
    Durable and lightweight plastic
    [bar code]
    Made in China
    ----

I'm 6'3" and have decent-sized paws. I can use this if I need to (the grip is similar in size to the handle on one of those plastic scrub brushes for the kitchen sink), but I'm pleased to learn from other reviews that there's a larger one available out there. I'll get that for next year.

If I knew this was intended for use by children I probably would have made a different purchasing decision, so I'm clicking 'would not recommend'. But if you want it for the kids, it's probably a good unit.

My sister in-law found a berry picker in Canada. I was so excited when I seen it in your catalog. I very disappointed when it arrived. This berry picker is child size. That should be stated in the description. This berry picker is available in a much larger size. Too bad Gardeners doesn't carry it!

There is a bit more cleaning involved than when you hand pick. Leaves and bad berries will have to be picked through after using the rake.

This berrypicker is near perfect for blueberries, particularly when they are nearly all ready for picking. I didn't use it for raspberries and other soft berries, but suspect it would mangle them.

Great at seperating berries from the bush. What sticks that may get through can be pulled through the bottom. Only negative is it's difficult to get the berries out, although not immposssible.

During blackberry season, my husband loves to meditate by going up into Oak Creek Canyon to pick. I thought this would be such a fun gift item for him. When I unpacked it, I was surprised to see this item was made for children, and that was not mentioned in the product description. My husband is a big man with large hands, and while he still wants to try it. he will not be able to use it as it was designed.
