I really like the fact that the light is bright enough that it can be seen from the road which is 900 ft from the house but not glaring in the room. I have been surprised that the C cells have lasted two Christmas seasons as I have some candles that are several years old. I will be ordering the candles as gifts for next year.

This candle is attractive and its flickering light is quite convincing. It has a photo cell which automatically turns it off each morning and on again in the evening. However,to avoid draining the batteries all night it is necessary to go around to every candle in the house and manually turn it off and then on again the next day. There are candles available that automatically turn off after a certain number of hours, i.e. they are not on all night. That would be better for this user!

We visited Wiliamsburg during the week following the Great Illumination, and saw these lights in one of the historic homes. We decided to try these after wasting money on some battery operated lights that used AAA batteries and lasted a very short time. These candle lights use C batteries and they have lasted more than a month without any diminishment in brightness.

I have used them for several years. They are nice at christmas or year round. One of my sons has two small children, so I bought some for my daughter-in-law. She enjoys them for decoration, ease of use, safety (no cords or worry of children trying to plug in or unplug) and she uses one to go up the stairs at night (as one would have used a real candle decades ago). It gives enough light without waking the children whose bedroom doors are open.
They are a bit pricey, but last.

The LED light on this product does not emit the same nice warm glow that incandescent bulbs do giving the candlelight the classic LED eye-hurting glow.
