I have two ponds which require two balls in each to keep the algae down. Work great. My only complaint is replacing the barley in the plastic container. Plastic container is very hard to open and stay closed. I use fishing wire and tie it together.

For the second year in a row, this barley ball is not preventing algae, and I don't think it's even reducing it. It didn't work last year, but I thought perhaps it was because I introduced it to my pond too late in the season. This year I made sure to put the new one in early, but algae is growing. I loved the idea of a natural, non-chemical way to minimize algae, but this does not seem to work.

This is the second year I have used the Bailey Balls. I did not use the container because had read they were difficult to open.

We've bought this product in the previous year and it worked great. This year, however we still have algae in the pond that we've had to manually remove. I don't know if there is a difference in the quality of the barley, or that we have a different sort of algae that doesn't make it work the same. In any case, I am not giving up on it. The plastic container could be a little more durable. Even though carefully stored, it still cracked.
