I used to spend hours each summer "weeding" my pond and falls of string algae. Tried several different expensive and tedious products. The aquasphere sounded too good to be true, but I have now used it for three years because it is so easy and really works. Not cheap, but worth it. Just be sure to replace it monthly, since just one won't last through the summer.

I tried this product in my backyard pond and it turned my greenish colored water to a murky ugly brown. Unless you like brown water over green (I prefer clear)I wouldn't use this product

Aqua balls seem to work if pond is not too large.
Area around applied ball stayed relativly free of algae but after about 30 days it must be replaced with a new ball and that will add up in costs over a whole summer.
Our pond is spring-fed and has an outlet, makes treatmnet more difficult.

Our retention pond showed no change after over two weeks the aquaspheres were applied. We placed two aquaspheres in our 1/4 -1/2 acre pond suffering from duck weed on the surface of the water. Wished the product worked, but to no avail the treatment didn't work. Must commend Gardeners Supply Company for their great customer service. Called customer service and talked to Martin, who offered to replace the aquaspheres or initiate a refund. Appreciate all their help. Always used them for our garden supplies and will continue to use them for not only their great products, but also their employees. Thank You!
