Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I love them! Watering our many indoor sunroom plants took a lot of time. You often have to wait for the water to absorb into the dry soil. Put one or two of these in your planter and just top em off and they slow feed from 10 to 30 min. Saving us a lot of time and over spilling.
Now that we can water this way, we can cover the top soil with food grade plastic to prevent evaporation thus saving even more water! Did you know that as much as 50% of the water loss comes from evaporation? By covering the top soil with plastic (food grad if for veggies) can reduce this loss greatly? This saves you water, and time watering. Before these spikes it was not practicle to cover my open pots cuz the water would sit on top of the plastic. Now, no problm. Will be ordering a bunch. Next year we will use them in our outdoor garden as well.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I ordered this product for several of my neighbors as well as myself. We all are having difficulty getting the product to fit the soda bottles. Most times the water drains completely within moments. Not easy to use and time consuming. Two liter bottles don't work at all for us.

We thought these would be the answer for weekends away -- but we tried every thing we could think of to get them to work, but they drained immediately or soon after.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
It's been keeping my plants alive with the 90+ degree days. Must make sure plastic bottles are on tight or it will leak. And cut the end out of the bottle and put a knee high panty hose over the end to keep bugs and stuff out of it Makes it easy to refill with the hose also.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Last year I planted a row of raspberry bushes on a slope - these Aquacones allowed me to water each plant directly without water running down the embankment. This year I purchased more Aquacones in order to provide more water to my garden plants that need it (e.g., cucumbers). These work great. They may require some sort of support (where needed, I tapped short pieces of PVC into the ground and attached the 2-litre bottle to it with gardening tape)

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I thought this product would allow water to seep into my containers over a long period of time. In fact... making a single, smallest hole possible... it drained into the plant within 2 minutes.
When I follow the directions and punch 2 holes... it drained in less than 30 seconds.
This was a lot of money for an essentially worthless product.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
We are using these to water tomatoes. We hope this will significantly reduce blight/disease problems from past years. They are easy to use. We covered the open end of the two liter bottles with mesh to keep the mosquitos out. We will be calling customer service to find out why the directions include adding sand to the cone. With our hot weather this summer, we discovered the sand hardens and blocks the flow of water. We've re-done each cone at least once so far this summer. The big question is: how often do we need to re-fill the bottles? We called customer service and discovered no one had asked that before. We've had problems in the past with what Master Gardener's, and the literature, have referred to as caused by "inconsistent watering". Our weather here in Northern Virginia can be really hot (we just finished a heat way of 11 days of 95F, or hotter), rain can be inconsistent or not, or we can have weather in the 80's. So far, the tomato plants look very healthy. We don't know whether to attribute that in part to the cone watering system or the fact we've never grown tomatoes on this piece of ground, or its a combination of the two. For the bottom line: Maybe I would recommend to a friend

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
We're in the middle of a drought, and I am trying to have a good vegetable garden without spending too much time and money on watering. I got these and find them very helpful since they direct the water to the roots. They also help deprive the weeds of water since it is targeted to the plant. I have used them both with the 2 liter soda bottles, as well as the plastic, half gallon milk containers. With the latter I shove the collar of the aqua cone inside the milk jug since it's too big to screw the cone onto the jug. Then I cut a hole in the bottom of the jug which is where I direct the hose stream. I've also tried it with a gallon milk jug, and it works if you have something to stabilize its weight. I nestle a bunch of straw around the jug and the plant and it works real well. THe one thing to remember with soda bottles is to cut the screw cap collar off (the part of the cap that remains when you take the cap off), or else you can't screw the soda bottle into the aqua cone enough to make it stable. And be careful cutting a hole in the end of soda bottles since it's easy to slip and cut yourself, too.
Pros
- Waters slowly
Cons
- Difficult To Use
- No threads
Best Uses

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
They could be great if they had threads, but aren't very good because the don't. It is difficult to get a 2-liter bottle of water to stay attached. They are top heavy and without threads, don't stay together very well unless balanced just right.
