Exclusive | Versatile Clay Pebbles Hold Moisture and Improve Soil Aeration
- Clay balls create a moist and aerated growing environment for roots
- They absorb and retain water, and then release it back to plants
- Reduce watering chores and provide the consistent supply of water that plants love
Aqua Pebbles are made from clay that's been fired at high temperatures, creating a porous material that holds water and then releases it slowly as plants need it. Commonly used in hydroponics and terrariums and as a potting medium for orchids, the clay balls are also ideal in container plantings. Place a layer of Aqua Pebbles at the bottom of a planter, then fill the rest with soil mix. The pebbles absorb and retain water, while also creating pockets of air space. Roots grow down into the pebble layer, where they have access to both the water and the oxygen they need. Our exclusive blend includes pebbles in a variety of sizes to create the optimum amount of air space. They may also be used as decorative surface mulch. 5-pound bag.

Comments about Aqua Pebbles:
I used the Aqua Pebbles for the bottom of my large pot that is growing a bright red Trumpet Plant. These were recommended for the best growth and they were light and small that provides easy use. They give extra water and air to the roots for the best growth. GREAT....

Comments about Aqua Pebbles:
I always put foam peanuts in my large planters to save on dirt. They do last forever, but I really don't like peanuts. I saw these and ordered two packages and I am very pleased with the way they are used and does save on potting soil in the large planters. They a little pricey and don't really go very far, but they are better than Styrofoam.

Comments about Aqua Pebbles:
Use these pebbles to deter cats from digging in house plants. Placed a layer of porch screen between soil and pebbles so they would not sink into the soil.

Comments about Aqua Pebbles:
I used this for hanging baskets along with the Aqua Save lined baskets, also from Gardeners Supply. To see if the Combo was working, I conducted a side-by-side test. The Combo basket with the Aqua pebbles and Aqua Save was in for one month and was right beside the conventionally constructed basket, which had been there about one year. It was early April in Southern Arizona and the Afternoon Temperature was 80* F, the afternoon Humidity was 10%, and the Average Wind Speed was 5-7 MPH. I had been watering both baskets early each morning. I then measured the Soil Moisture in both baskets in mid morning and again in late afternoon. The conventional basket read 2 on the moisture meter in mid morning and 1 on the moisture meter, in the late afternoon (1 is Dry and 4 is Wet). The basket with the Aqua save and Aqua pebbles, spiked the meter above four, for both readings. Both baskets had similar home-made soil and the same plants. My conclusion from my test is that the Combo basket is holding and maintaining the soil moisture much better and I can therefore, cut back on watering, even on the driest days. The conventional basket, I will have to continue to water every day.
