Absolutely fabulous way to compost...a beautiful Apple Crock, sitting right on the counter. And with the filter in the top, there are no odors...even with onion skins and garlic peels. It sits right between my cutting board, coffee maker, and my sink, so I just pop all the kitchen scraps and coffee grounds right inside. I do use the biodegradable liner to keep the slime factor at bay. Then I carry the whole thing to my outside composter when full...wash the crock out, install a new liner, and we are ready to go again! I bought extra filters, but so far I've only had to wash the one that came with the crock. Beautiful...and practical.

- Hides What It Is
I have an older home and I wanted a composter since I don't have a disposal. I did not want something that looked like a composter for it would have distracted from the kitchen. This was the perfect fix. The size was just right and with the wider mouth it makes it easy to use. The color was great for me. It is not a red,red apple therefore it blended great for me and added just alittle color but did not stick out. You would not know what it was if you didn't already know. Just looks like a cookie jar beside the microwave. I just love it. Thank you so much for finally having something that hides the fact that it is a composter.

Pros
- Comes With Filter
- Easy to clean
- Nice size
Cons
- Needs Filter
Best Uses
- For Wet Garbage Peels
- Pretty On Countertop
- Set Near Sink
I love the look of it sitting by my sink - it looks like it could be a cookie jar not that you actually use it for placing wet garbage and peels into. I didn't realize it had holes in the top with a filter, but I empty it every day so it doesn't smell. It is very easy to keep clean unlike the plastic one provided by our hauler. I am even thinking of purchasing more to give as gifts next holiday.
Pros
- Fun Gift To Give
- No Smell When In Use
- With Care Wears Well
Cons
- none
Best Uses
- Compost Storage
The gift of the compost crock was enjoyed and practical at the same time. It has a larger volume than the pictures seen on the web page but still fits well on the kitchen counter top.
Pros
- Colorful
- Pretty
- Right size
- Useful
Cons
Best Uses
- Compost
- Decorative
I gave this compost jar as a Christmas gift to an avid gardner. She loved it and placed it in the middle of her table for decoration until it is needed.
Pros
Cons
- Will Scratch Counter
Best Uses
I REALLY like this apple crock. The lid does not fit tight, but I can remove it with one hand & with the charcoal filter, there was no smell at all. I put felt pads on the bottom so it would not scratch my counter if it was scooted across the surface.
