Andover Cedar Landscape Screen, Stained

Purchased to add privacy to deck rail; which they did well. Assembly difficult because of curve in bottom of horizontal arc section and required use of clamps to keep arc section vertical and matched to plane of horizontal member the of screen section. Five or six pieces of the lattice had black numbering on them. One of the horizontal pieces to which the arc section would be attached had a long, deep crack. Fiexed with gule and clamps prior to assembly.

I was very dissapointed with this product The color featured in the catalog is a bright red the real life color is a washed out red stain that I would not have ordered if I could see up close . Since product and packaging was so large I just didn't bother trying to return it

I had a need for a 36" garden gate, so I put hinges on this screen and put it to that use. Painted with Australian Timber oil, the red cedar looks quite attractive.

Not sturdy enough to take hard blows, but I would guess it will serve for about 10 years under ordinary useage.

The dents (or almost gouges) in the bottom rail of the half-circle top appear to have occurred in manufacturing, rather than shipping. We considered the defects to be sufficiently minor (though somewhat disfiguring)that we didn't bother trying to return it for exchange or credit.

Our Home Owners' Association doesn't allow us to have a full fence. We purchased three screens. This product has done a beautiful job, we now have more privacy in our back yard. It looks great incorporated with our present landscaping.

I was excited to install two of these attractive screens to add a bright green color accent to my landscaping. They are a far-sturdier, more attractive replacement for the flimsy lattices I was growing Clematis on. The only two negative are that
a. The top arch panel groove doesn't fit well into the top of the rectangular panel (no matter how hard I tried to get it in there), so when the two parts are screwed together using the pre-drilled angled screw holes, the top arch is set at an UNATTRACTIVE ANGLE from the body of the screen. I bought two and neither of them fit well, so I doubt this was a fluke of construction. I can only hope that my vine will grow up and somewhat obscure this awkward appearance.
b. the product is only PARTIALLY finished (the center lattice is painted, the outer edge is unfinished cedar), so if you want to maintain the fresh cedar look, you will need to finish the edges yourself before installation.
