I use it both in raised beds and in row crop areas. Puts a slow gentle drip of water right at the base of the plants. Does not waste water. I covered mine with Cypress mulch to protect from the sun.

I ordered these because I needed to connect regular hose with soaker hose but didn't want to use up all the angled connectors in my raised bed Snip and Drip set. These are simple connectors without the angle but they fit on just as easily and no leaking.
