these are great for anytime one needs to keep an eye on the water level for seedlings or even in hydroponic setups. Though they could be longer, I use them in my aerogarden 3's as well as the self watering trays for small and mini bonsai.

Fool-proof design. Works as advertised. Note that these gauges only provide useful feedback when viewed near eye level. If your trays are at ground level, checking water level directly will be more convenient.

Works on any type of shallow container. You'll have to figure out how to keep it in place though - it doesn't come with a clip or anything to hold it in place when not using with GS's APS flats.

I don't have to look down under the styrofoam to see if the water level is good enough for the seeds; I just look at this and it tells me exactly where the water level is in the AP40 system. Great product!
