Comments about APS Starter Kit:
The seeds I started in the APS did extremely well and I don't really have to worry about watering all the time. They seem to be thriving and I will transplant when they get bigger. The lid could bed a little higher to allow for more growth.

Comments about APS Starter Kit:
I've used and reused my seed starting kits over the years -- seeds always sprout; I've never had a problem with damping off. My only complaint are the thin plastic reservoirs -- my dim memory of the original design (long, long ago) is that it had styrofoam reservoirs that held heat better and were easier to move around.

Comments about APS Starter Kit:
It is the best, most forgiving way to start seeds. Even a beginner will experience nearly 100% success. The cover helps to keep seeds moist until germination. The self-watering features buys you time throughout the week, letting you travel for a few days or forgiving you if you forget to water. Being able to walk by the water level indicator and see at glance if water is needed is a real time saving convenience. The system with it's pop out feature is great for minimally disturbing the root system and lifts the plug out of the container so efficiently that you are not tempted to lift your plant by the stem and therefore are less likely to damage the vascular system, making planting a success, too. The fact that you can buy replacement water wicking mats means that you can use the APS system for years and will rediscover it's great design year after year. My APS took me from a beginner gardener to a master gardener.
The only thing I wish is that it were made out of a hard dishwasher safe material.

Comments about APS Starter Kit:
I use this kit for starting all sorts of seeds. So far I haven't been disappointed starting everything from lettuce, to petunias, to winter squash in it. The seeds all stay just at the right moisture level and the clear cover keeps them from drying out until they are well sprouted. Unfortunately, I received the Organic germinating mix with this kit. I am disappointed by the fact that the mix is FULL of twigs. They don't seem to affect the germinating ability of the mix - all my seedlings sprouted in record time - but I couldn't help feeling just a little ripped off by all the twigs in the mix.

Comments about APS Starter Kit:
This is a great design the matting work just as advertised. The gardeners potting is a great mix that really holds the water. The material does not float up very much at all like some of the competitions seedling mix.
The Styrofoam is not the strongest I have used but so far only a little flaking. I am a bit nervous about how long it will last.
Nearly 100% success with germination and the fertilizer is a great product as well. I am very happy with the products so far.

Comments about APS Starter Kit:
I've tried a lot of seedstarting trays, and this one works the best of all of them. The wicking mat means there's no guess work about watering. It delivers just the right amount of water to the plants. And the cells are sturdy enough that you can re-use them year after year - other trays are such flimsy plastic that they crust when you take the plants out.
