Comments about APS Starter Kit:
I purchased two different seed starter kits from Gardener's Supply this season, the Fast Start Kit, and the APS Kit. I much preferred the Fast Start Kit. Actually, after using one of the APS Kits, I returned the second one I purchased and got another Fast Start Kit in its place. I found I didn't need the water level indicator in the APS Kit. Also, when I lifted the seedling tray to get the roots free from the fabric, the styrofoam broke quite easily. I had no such problem with the Fast Start seedling tray.
All in all, the concept of watering and fertilizing seedlings from below as they grow in both kits is very easy and resulted in strong healthy seedlings. The fertilizer that comes with the kits is just right for young plants. I diluted the fertilizer about half-strength before I added it to the reservoir. However, I didn't see that mentioned in the directions. I'd like to see that added to the directions in the future. The system is so good that I went away for a weekend and didn't have to worry about my seedlings drying out. I just made sure the reservoir was full before I left. I grew my seedlings under a Gardeners Supply lighting system which I purchased this year. I am very glad I did. I am planting well over 100 veggie, perennial, and annual plants in my garden this year. I feel they are as good and healthy as those professionally grown. I have never had such success in the past. I highly recommend both starter kits, but prefer the Fast Start Kit to the APS Kit.

Comments about APS Starter Kit:
I use this product every year. It stands up to the use and does a great job of starting all my plant seeds. It is reusable and sturdy. I love this product. It is mush better than peat pots or other seed starting methods because of its self watering process.

Comments about APS Starter Kit:
This is my first time starting seeds from scratch and the system worked great. The seedling tray has an open bottom to absorb moisture...so don't be tempted to lift this tray off because all the soil and seedlings fall out!

Comments about APS Starter Kit:
Made of thin plastic and styrofoam, not sure how many seasons this will last, but the wicking mat provides consistant watering for the seedlings. Easy to remove seedlings to larger pots after they have germinated and are ready.

Cons

Comments about APS Starter Kit:
I've been using the cheap seed starting trays for years and decided this year to try something good. My mom has used APS trays for many years and said they are great. So far I have no complaints. They came with everything I needed but the seeds, and germination happened much quicker than normal. Plus I still have plenty of germination mix left for later.
Pros
- Holding Capacity
- Lightweight
- Sturdy
Cons
Best Uses

Comments about APS Starter Kit:
I am using these for the first time, so can't tell you how they stand up to multiple uses. However, I love the fact that I don't have to check the water level every day. I used the included starting mix and followed directions. Within 3 days I had 5 cells of lettuce, 3 tomatoes and one bell pepper emerge. These are great seed starters!
