Pros
- Well built easy to use
Cons
Best Uses
Only problem with one other I have is when it was empty, the wind knocked it over and the hose attachment broke off the barrel. Had to rig to make it work again. That is a weak spot. Other than that, this is our 3 rd one so that problem hasn't stoped me from buying them.

Able to easily fill watering can and also connect to soaker hose.
I collect rain to use with my Bromeliad collection. I like several things about this barrel :
1. It is quite sturdy.
2. The screen on the top keeps bugs and debris that come down the rain gutter out of the barrel.
3. The screen lifts off for easy cleaning of the entire barrel once a year if needed.
4. It has a handy over-flow spout to aim water away from the house.
5. The brown color blocks out sunlight which keeps algae from growing in the barrel. This, in turn, keeps algae from clogging the mist system in my greenhouse.
6. The hose at the bottom of the barrel makes it easy to use the water rather than having to siphon out of the top.
Pros
- Well written Ad
Cons
- Leaks from everywhere
- No Help from Gardeners
Best Uses
- Hold Sand
I bought two of these - first one leaked from everywhere - second didn't leak from one outlet! Contacted Customer Service, was told to by Marine Sealant (brand name omitted here). Four hour round trip and purchase later - didn't work. Never got follow-up contact from CS. Any wonder I won't be shopping at Gardner's in the future?
Pros
- Holds a lot of water
- Keeps water clean
Cons
- Hose kinked
- Keep tightening hookups
- Strainer warped from sun
Best Uses
- Water for our chickens
- Water plants
the only thing that I was troubled about was the warping of the strainer on the top....when left on the barrel, and of course the barrel is in the sun, it warped....so now, the misquitos can get in and lay eggs....not good.....may have to make my own screened top. But this shouldn't be...when buying something that costs this much, things should work ... one shouldn't have to improvise

I was excited to order this product, but when it arrived it leaked from the ports. Customer service told me to go to the local hardware store and buy a sealer...hmmm.Looks like they had some previous experience with the product. Sealer didnt' work either. Called customer service and they told me they would ship me another one, and said I could use the old one as a planter...hmmmm. Anyway the second one arrived and it leaked from ALL ports. Again went to the hardware store and purchased a marine sealer which seemed to work, but rendered the ports unusable. Lousy product and poorly made!
We like that we save the water. We are not happy that even with the stand it doesn't have the pressure we had hoped for to water the garden with the drip hoes system. So we have to put the water in a sprinking can to do the watering.

Fills up quickly and perfect for keeping the pots and planters watered.
Pros
- Large Capacity
- Linking capability

Cons

Best Uses

I am a home gardener. A few years ago, I built my own rain barrel as a Staff Day activity where I work. I've wanted to add a second one. This seemed to fit the bill. I love the huge capacity, and the fact that the screen is easy to remove and clean. My only negative is the hose with the shut-off. It simply isn't heavy enough. It arrived with a kink in it, which I could not get out. I also think the hose could be a larger diameter, to allow for better water flow. I actually went to a local store and bought a replacement leader hose made for hose reels. MUCH better.
