Pros
- Where Were You Years Ago
Cons
- none
Best Uses
- For Fresh Vegees
We are using the self watering troughs to grow our vegees weed free. My wife and I enjoy how simple to use and check water levels on these products. We've been telling our friends and neighbors who are looking for an easy way to grow vegees or house plants practically work free.

Pros
- Convenient
- Right size
Cons
Best Uses
- Flowers
- Used For Salad Greens
This is great on patio outside back door for salad greens and flowers. Too narrow for tomato plant and I don't think it's deep enough for root veggies. So far it has worked well. The full convenience on watering to be determined in the heat of summer.

This is an attractive pot at a very reasonable price. The major disappointment was that the water level gauge does not appear to work. I added almost two gallons of water and the level did not move at all. I should have checked how much water it would take before putting soil in it. There appears to be no way to tell when to add water or if you've added too much. Time will tell.

I've owned these planters for 6 years and they are still in great condition even tho they are exposed to 115 degree weather here in AZ in full sun! My only problem was the water retention in the bottom didn't work as it should. The water just became stagnant and plants dried out so I stopped using the fill tube or depending on the system.

Pros
- Easy to assemble
- Great price
- Great size
Cons
- Easily cracked
Best Uses
- Hanging from deck railing
This is a good product. Nice size to allow for plants to spread. Used to replace smaller container that I had been using for several years hanging from the deck rail. Use caution when creating overflow holes. Though I followed the instructions included mine cracked. Customer service was wonderful and replaced it as soon as they were back in stock.
Pros
Cons
- Limited water reservoir
- Poorly functioning flag
Best Uses
This is not as well made as the larger round self-watering planters, which I love. The reservoir is quite small. The water level flags are very poorly designed, easily dislodged, and can't be reliably used. I still like these planters as a means of having colorful flowering annuals over an area containing bulbs that I'd rather not remove, but it's disappointing that they're not as well designed as the other self-watering planters
Pros
- Best tomatoes I ever grew
- First time patio garden
- I will buy more next year
- Vegetables thriving
Cons
- Out of stock until July
- Wanted to purchase more
Best Uses
- Easy to move
- Herbs thrive
- Patio Garden
I was dissappointed in the shipping. Two of three boxes came damaged, as they were badly packed (no protection for each box). The replacements we were offered would have come to late for our growing season. I am certainly going to order the 31" boxes again next year.
Your customer service was excellent and called back immediately. I will be dealing with you again. Your product is everything you claimed.
Pros
- Easy to put to use
- Easy to use
Cons
Best Uses
- I used under a trellis
I had a blank wall with a huge trellis so these planters allowed me to put a variety of annual climbers to brighten the whole area.
Pros
- Enables control of soil
- Meters water to plants
- Perfect for decks
- Perfect for greenhouses
- Perfect for rocky sites
- Reduces blossom end rot
- Stackable for storage
Cons
Best Uses
- Flowers
- Radishes
- Salad ingredients
I own lots of self-watering planters. I obviously love them because I keep adding to my collection. I own several large ones that I use at our rocky summer home. I grow potatoes and rotate crops in those. This purchase was for two more troughs to use for growing lettuce and other salad greens at our winter home in Florida. Several benefits include: growing crops out of reach of deer, rabbits, and other critters; eliminating the wet-to-dry issues associated with other container growing; controlling the soil and soil amendments -- it's easy to dump and remix soil and to rotate crops; adjusting for climate and sunshine -- they can be moved for light, rain, frost; and the plants like them as much as I do.
Pros
- Attractive finish
- Generous depthsize
- Large reservoir
Cons
Best Uses
- Flanking wide entries
Depth and soil volume allowed the addition of tall and spreading flowers and foliage in a wide, raised portico area that had looked barren. Now there is the "pop" of interesting textures in the semi-shade entrance.

Beautiful, bountiful planters depend on good soil, fertilizer and careful watering. But to take your planters from standard to sensational, you need the right plants. Start with this simple rule: Combine plants with three different habits. In other words, thrillers, fillers and spillers.
