We saw these at a friend's house and knew that they were the perfect solution for us! Thanks to landscaping and wild animals, tender plant growing is limited to a long deck. As a truck gardener at heart, I miss having a lot of space to grow fruits and vegetables. The deck is covered with tomatoes in pots, cucumber in pot,potatoes in pots, herbs in pots - but now with the rail planters I have added radishes, lettuces, kales, scallions, peas, spinach, and other delights. (Flowers are in hanging baskets.)

I purchased one 24" and two 30" white planters for my back deck, and I filled them with assorted coleus, calibrachoa and vinca vines. I love the way the planters sit up on the deck railing without any mounting hardware. When they are full of potting mixture and plants, they are very heavy and sit well on the railing. I would suggest filling the planters and adding the plants when the planters are already in place on the railing. It will save your legs and back, I promise!

I'd give it 10 stars ... we have 10 of them and they're perfect. Seven are used for flowers and three for basil. This is the fourth year for six of them and they look non the worse for wear from those we bought this spring.
