I purchased two of these for my rear deck railing and they look just great. I did not want water draining onto the covered deck boards so I closed up the holes with packing tape from the inside. Then I used styrofoam peanuts at the bottom of the planters under the soil to aid in drainage without adding weight and this idea has worked out well for my purposes. I'm VERY happy with this purchase ;-}.

This planter is so easy to use. No assembly required, no hardware required to install. Simply set on top of porch rail and fill. I used styrofoam peanuts in the bottom to aid in drainage.

I ordered this product to sit on my deck railing -- it was described as a 2" x 4" railing planter which I thought would fit my 2" wide x 4" deep deck railing. Was very disappointed to discover it was made for a 4" WIDE railing (2" deep). I felt the product description was unclear and misleading -- it certainly misled me. When dimensions are given, width and height should be clearly marked, but these were not.
Needless to say, it is unusable on my deck railing and now has become a very expensive, fairly ugly, poorly draining (because it is meant to be elevated) box on my deck. VERY DISAPPOINTING!

This product was great for our commercial application. We needed a nice looking planter that would sit on the deck railing of our restaurant. This planter is perfect as it does not need screws, or any type of hardware. Our job was made a lot easier. We have had many inquires as to where we got these attractive planters. Our only con is that we feel for a piece of molded plastic these seem a bit expensive. They were [$]. each plus shipping. On a positive note, we will have them for many years and certainly get our dollars worth.
