i would like to see your company carry more made in america products. there is a company in california that makes the garden shoes, clogs, and rain boots called Sloggers. they are wonderful i own them all. i am sure you can find many planters and such that are made in america.
These work very well and are quite sturdy. We get high winds up here and they stay on the railing. I used a thin piece of molding wedged under them because my deck railings are curvy. They don't dry out too fast, and they hold a LOT of plants/flowers. Neighbors love them. Just installed them 6 weeks ago, so I don't know about longevity, they look like they will last though.
Pros
- Clean design
- Stable fit
Cons
- Short life
Best Uses
I first bought these planters two years ago and I have been impressed with how well they withstood all manner of high-wind and rain storm, including the recent derecho. They didn't wobble on the railing one bit. They look really nice. We keep them on the western facing deck rail most of the year. This spring, when I went to replant them, I took hold of them by the rim and was dismayed that the rim tore right off. I called Gardener's about it and the customer service was wonderful (even while implying that I shouldn't leave the planters out in the sun year-round and what do I expect!). I was able to get them replaced at a fraction of the original price, sent straight to my house. The delivery was very speedy, the customer service was friendly and very helpful. I only wish these planters would last longer than two years, especially since I have four of them, and they all add up.
holds three plants per container
Pros
- Good Looking
- Sturdy
Cons
- not deep enough
Best Uses
- Deck or patio railing
I'd bought four of the slightly larger size and even though I think they're not quite deep enough - not enough root space - for most plants, I liked them enough to buy another pair. I had no trouble getting off the sticker on each.
Pros
- Fit perfectly on the rail
Cons
- Wear out in two years
Best Uses
- Planting annuals
I have bought these in the past and continue to do so, as they fit my rail perfectly and are a great size for putting in a few bright annuals. The downside is that they crack or break after a few years of being outside, and they are rather expensive for what they are. Local garden centers aren't carrying they because the price is too high, according to the ones I asked, so this is the best place to get them.
Pros
- Attractive sturdy
Cons
- none
Best Uses
- Herbs flowers
I have 7 of these railing planters. I planted geraniums in them. Such a beautiful addition to my deck and porch. I will plant small herbs in one of the planters which will be on the back deck, close to the kitchen.
