I finally go tired of dealing with my homemade lighting system for seed starting, which entailed hanging shop lights by chains that were extremely difficult to adjust. This unit makes the whole process of starting seeds indoors a lot easier. The chains and pulleys move and lock easily and allow for quick adjustment of the lights' height. It's also much more space efficient, allowing me to grow up to 8 flats of seedlings. The plastic trays catch water and dirt, minimizing the mess. Finally, the ballasts hold THREE fluorescent T-8 grow lights, so more light means my seedlings are much more robust and not as leggy. I got a price break because the unit was not cosmetically perfect[...] These two breaks made it more affordable and so I think I got great value from this product.
