Hungry Ladybugs and Mantises Devour Insect Pests

  • Beneficial bugs are a safe, natural pest control
  • Control aphids, beetles, grasshoppers and more

Ladybugs and praying mantises are voracious predators of many garden insect pests, including aphids, whiteflies, spider mites and mealy bugs. We'll send you approximately 1,500 adult ladybugs or an egg case of 200-300 praying mantis eggs — each adult will eat several times its weight in insect pests, daily!

  • Ladybugs (Hippodamia convergens) help control aphids, whiteflies, spider mites, and mealybugs
  • Mantises (Tenodera aridifolia sinensis) eat aphids, beetles, grasshoppers, caterpillars, moths, mosquitoes, and other insects

    Comments about Beneficial Bugs:

I read all the reviews and did some 'google' research before buying. That said, I had no problem with the lady beetles. A few had died in the shipping process, that is to be expected. I watered my infected plants before releasing the beetles, true to your statement, they went right to work on my citrus scale, after they got a drink of water. Some flew away, but I suspect there is plenty of nutrients for the rest to stay a while.

      Comments about Beneficial Bugs:

WE built a geodesic dome greenhouse for year-round growing last fall. Over winter the aphids woke up & got hungry but there were no predators to be found inside. I tried keeping them down with soapy water spray & ant bait (ants spread aphids) until their natural enemies finished hibernating, but the aphids got nasty. Lady bugs to the rescue! Within 2 weeks LB sex led to LB larvae led to the end of the aphid problem. Balance is restored to our little ecosystem! (It helped that this was a semi-enclosed space.)

      Comments about Beneficial Bugs:

An acquaintance mentioned the benefits of introducing ladybugs to my yard after I mentioned the destructive aphids that were devouring new growth on my white pine. I bought 1500 and upon arrival, I followed instructions and dampened them through the mesh bag. I kept them in the original container and in the crisper drawer for a few nights until the evenings were above freezing. It was quite an experience to set them free on different plants in the yard. They came to life from hibernation and it was a joy to watch them climb the trees and go to work. I see them now here and there. I ended up getting two more orders, and released them also. I suggest you have plenty of plants that attract them and they do need moisture. I spray water all about the tree that was infested. It helps keep them in the yard. I do know I don't see the entire 4500 or so, but it feels great that they are out there doing what they do best, exterminating without chemicals. Enjoy !!!!

          Comments about Beneficial Bugs:

I had a spider mite infestation in my hot-house last month and ordered these ladies. Product does not come from gardeners in Burlington, shipping takes forever and the tiny freezer pack they ship with them was room temp by the time I got it, mind you I live in southern Vermont ordering from a northern Vermont company.
The lady bugs themselves were terrible. Full maturity, only interested in mating not eating.
Buy yourself Azamax organic spray and save yourself the trouble.

                Comments about Beneficial Bugs:

My adult ladybugs arrived via US mail with ants In the box. I quickly opened the box and placed the ladybugs as instructed. There were PLENTY of aphids for their consumption & moisture as well as cover. They were all gone by morning. The instructions that came with suggested the larval stage is best for maximum aphid consumption. That tidbit of info would have been helpful when I ordered instead of when I received the adult lady bugs. Very disappointed in lack of customer service too. They offered 10% off another batch.

                  Comments about Beneficial Bugs:

I had cloudy, cool weather for 2 weeks. I was ready to give up. I had placed the egg sacs in a brown paper bag. Then, we had 3 straight 90+ degree days. I checked morning and night. The 4th morning, there they were! So very small! I spread them around my plants (I have a small garden) and 5 minutes later, it was very difficult to find them! 2 of the sacs had hatched in the bag. The 3rd 1 did sometime 2 days later. The birds found some of them, but if I look hard, I can find about 40 or so. The bugs (bad 1's) have been decreased. I will order these and the nemetoades in the spring next year(July this year.) Would be great for kids to see this!

I appreciated the fast and careful packing and shipping. However, 50% of the lady bugs were dead on arrival. The balance flew off within 3 days.
