Comments about Grow Houses:
First, let me say that the customer service is outstanding and number one despite the cons we encountered while putting this unit together. If you need help, have parts missing, need replacement parts in the future, they will be there for you as any respectable company should be for their customers. How often do you see that nowadays? Almost never! Another plus: This company makes this unit on site in VT - USA!
Now about the unit. We bought the 12 x 16 unit. This is not a weekend project. If you want it done right, plan on spending every weekend working on it until its complete. We ordered this in April 2012 and finished it in June. Set up is difficult and you'll need help with:
Framing, braces (could use better screws here on the brackets. I suggest ones that will lye flush to prevent the windows & door from getting hung up on the screw heads for when it comes time to putting them in). Don't assume for a moment that you won't need the extra wood that they suggest you'll need, because you'll need them to stabalize it. In fact, we added some for the sides as well.
You'll also need help with putting the poly cover on. The piece that comes with it for the front & back is tight. In other words, once you cut it, there is hardly room for error here.
There's just enough to get it on, not enough to pull it tight so that you can staple it on. I would've been happier if they allowed for half inch or so extra on each side like they do for the main cover.
The instructions for the most part are clear, with the exception of the end. It just kind of
drops off and leaves you hanging. If you're used to building structures it might not be a problem. But, for those of you who are not, you might need help with it.
In regards to the list of materials needed. This site list most of what you need under the Learn More tab and click Specifications. However, they do not list the re-bar that you'll also need. But, they do list it within the Assembly Manal you get with the kit.
Bottom line: Yes, it was at times a pain in the neck to build. And the hardware sent with it
could have been of better quality, especially the hinges. It would have been nice if they were
pre-drilled to speed up the process. And, it is true that you will end up spending a lot more money in addition to the initial cost of getting this unit. (We spent an extra $500.00 bucks on the extra's: better hardware, paint, extra wood because we felt it needed it to improve it, or make stronger so that it will last for many years to come.)
So, if you're patient and can handle making modifications, calling for help when/if needed, and are willing to spend a bit more money, this unit is for you. You won't regret it. We don't! We had been looking for a long while and couldn't find a better deal anywhere! I just hope they'll
keep this unit available indefinitely and improve it some. It would be profitable for them to do so because it is a great strucure and not many around like it. In fact, since its completion, our neighbors and others passing through have stopped by occasionally to tell me how awesome it looks. :)

Comments about Grow Houses:
The largest growhouse Gardeners Supply makes is the 12X24'It arrived at our farm/office site on Feb. 18th, 2012, after much investigation and expert help from Holly Ruth on the phone. I had one helper working with me and we took our time. By putting down a block footing we added years to its life. The manual was incredibly exact and things fit together like hands and leather gloves. By not rushing (it was finished on April 14th) no mistakes were made. The only change I would suggest is putting star-headed screws in the kit for the larger wood pieces. They are a litle more money but grip much better. Also, a question was raised about not knowing what size staples to use in the gun for the plastic. Half-inch staples is what I should have used but didn't except at the end. The first plants that went in are doing very well even though the temperature reached one day 114 F!

Comments about Grow Houses:
We purchased the 12x16 kit. Materials cost for wood and rebar was just under $100. We purcased a circulatory fan costing us another $100 and a screen door($25)as others have done because the materials given were unusably flimsy. The gallon of paint alone was $40 and we had to buy new washer fittings because the ones they gave us were too big...and the screws were too small and weak.
After taking us several days to complete, the grow house stood maybe 48 hours before a strong wind snapped the side beam of the frame and pulled the entire structure down with it.
I have to blame the plans and the quality of the materials given as there were no good supports for that long of a structure. Gardener supply would not stand behind their product and refused us a refund. Our insurance couldnt cover because of the deductable and we are now in the hole hundreds. It's not just the money spent but the transplants I now have no where to put going to waste and all the time lost. I even purchased all my potting soil and aps systems here, but never again. I am completely crushed..

Comments about Grow Houses:
I live in Alaska and bought my growhouse almost 20 years ago and it is still great. You have to keep the snow cleared off and birds do peck holes in plastic but it extends the growing season tremendously. I put my plants inside it in April and it protects from freezing which can go through June in my area - I live about a mile from a glacier. My husband and I were able to put it together in a day with no problems.

Comments about Grow Houses:
Instructions said goes up in a weekend, but I would plan on a few extra days. Keep snow cleaned off and it will last for years. We modified ours to be able to roll sides up to the waiste high side rail and its allowed us to do more with it during those hot summer months. Great for keeping my hot peppers from getting too much water during rainy periods-

Comments about Grow Houses:
I have a perennial business. Earlier plant deliveries give better selling opportunities; by using frost blankets in early spring andlater fall, my growing seaon should be extended by about 6 weeks.
Now it is up, couldn't do it myself, it is wonderful. Putting it up was not nearly as easy as was described. I had a contractor and hishelper do the setting up, and it ws more like 6 or 7 hours of two-man labor.

Comments about Grow Houses:
I love my greenhouse, but they don't tell you ALL the supplies you need. You don't get any of the 2x4s to build it. I spent an extra $150-$200 on buying the rest of the wood to finish it. Yes they do tell you to buy the PTW for the base. But it was still cheaper then buying a little 6x8 panel for $600 and up..
